THE STORY OF THE PENNY RUG

The Wool Penny Rug and Folk Art Christmas Ornaments are as much a delight to design as to assemble, with the added satisfaction of being able to — at last — use all those luscious bits of leftover wool. Nothing wasted!

Much like quilting, penny rug crafting can be a neighborly pursuit with friends gathered round a kitchen table, or the work can be a solitary activity on a cold winter night.

Either way, the process is the same. Gently felt the re-purposed wool carefully cut the ‘penny’ circles, tabs, hearts and flowers, lay the design flat in front of you, thread the needle and begin the blanket stitch.
