I started my Etsy shop in 2007, first selling photography, then jewelry. I have always loved vintage costume jewelry, and when my collection overwhelmed my ability to wear every piece I knew I had to do something. I started looking for new ways to wear all of my vintage clip-on earrings--I tried stringing them on chains, but they just fell off. I clipped them to my lapels, but they slowly slid down. Finally, I sat down one day with some cheap-o pliers from the local craft store, and set about to figuring out how to remove the clips and refashion the earrings into something new.
Hawleywood was born out of my love of vintage jewelry and my desire to make it fresh, exciting, and wearable in new ways. I make my jewelry in my home studio, at night after my family is asleep.
During the day I work full-time at a job that I love. Making jewelry is creative and challenging, and meditative at times.
I love anything sparkly, especially vintage rhinestones and aurora borealis beads. Vintage flower earrings are my kryptonite! I also love vintage gold tone pieces--brooches are a consistent favorite. You'll see all of this and more, including natural stones and various other bibs and bobs at hawleywood.
