We offer a unique variety of rare, organic, and heirloom seeds. Many are ideally suited for shorter growing seasons, container growing, and gardens with limited space. We are dedicated to growing organically, preserving traditional heirloom varieties, and promoting seed diversity.
Why grow organically?
Organic gardening just makes sense! It protects the environment, supports biological diversity, and promotes balance in nature. By avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, long-term soil fertility is maintained, the food we grow is healthy, and we aren’t adding to the chemical load in our environment. Growing organically isn’t just about avoiding pesticides and chemicals though. It embraces and whole range of holistic gardening techniques including composting, mulching, companion planting, and natural weed and pest control methods.
Why plant heirloom seeds?
Heirloom seeds are open-pollinated, genetically diverse, and have been around for hundreds of years. Many heirloom plants have unique characteristics, intense flavors, and interesting colours. Some heirlooms are rare and unfortunately some are endangered. When you choose heirloom varieties, you help to preserve seed diversity, and keep heirloom seeds alive.
