Welcome to the Studio for the New American Trade Bead.
My name is Harold Williams Cooney and I am endeavoring to assemble the finest single-source permanent collection of beads in the history of mankind through an encyclopedic like studio of lampworking. Items are classified in state-named groups, each discussing an aesthetically and functionally narrow design approach.
The American Trade Bead permanent collection currently houses more than two thousand seven hundred of the finest objects that have come out of the studio over the last five years.
My intention is to use small glass objects as pixels in the illustration of contemporary borosilicate lampworking’s technical vocabulary, the standing of glass beads in the world of glass art and in the projection of my believes in American entrepreneurialism and the place of craft in the twenty-first century.
Fifty three design groups, thousands of hours of labor, tens of thousands of beads, one voice. Estimated date of completion is July of 2030.
