One premium paper I like to use is a gorgeous metallic pearl paper. This 260gsm weight, archival, fine art paper, created by one of the leading paper manufacturers in the world, creates depth and has an ultra-smooth pearlescent/glossy finish to it. It is a stunner, especially when used with my landscape water images, because it seems to give the waves a glow. It is fun to print other types of images on it as well...for that unique element of a subtle glow.
Another paper I use is an award-winning,100% cotton, photo rag baryta paper, a professional digital darkroom grade paper with a glossy finish along with a somewhat unique granular surface texture. It gives 3-dimensional color depth, and in my estimation resembles a flat oil-painting type of surface look. Another plus is that it is produced with green power, so it is eco-friendly as well. It is made by the revered Hahnemühle paper company, which sets the highest standard for fine art paper.
A few of my images are printed on renewable bamboo paper, which provides a matte, more subtle and softer look in both color and detail. I use it when a zen, ethereal feel is needed, more than sharp contrast and details. I am still experimenting with sugar cane and Japanese washi, but need more color consistency before I present them in my shop.
If a print's title is not suffixed by a paper type in its listing, the print will be printed on my go-to paper, a gorgeous matte heavyweight (300gsm), archival, cotton fine art paper—a beautiful eco-friendly paper that enhances the details in the photo and lends the image a luscious softness with its wonderful almost watercolor-paper texture.
All of my images are handprinted to assure the utmost quality control and printed on an Epson printer that many famous designers themselves use for personal printing applications. The frosting on this PAPER-HEAVEN CAKE, you ask? Epson Ultrachrome K3 vivid magenta ink, incorporating the latest Epson pigment ink technology with an excellent color and black-and-white permanence rating.
