Time to freshen up your home for spring? A new lamp or pillow is just the thing!

Lamps, pillows, and home decor, hand made with love.

jarabas pillows, lamps, frames and drop spine storage boxes are handmade with unique papers and fabrics. I scour art stores and designer fabric collections and pick only the rarest and most lovely finds and then combine them to create one of a kind home decor. Distinctive, luxurious, but always practical, jarabas home decor is designed to make your home a more beautiful place for living.

My lamps and pillows cost a bit more than some out there. That is because I use the only the highest quality materials, like unique archival papers in my shades and premium upholstery weight interior design textiles and hand dyed, hand woven silks in my pillows. I make each pillow and lamp shade by hand, one at a time, to exacting standards. A lot of thought and love goes into producing each one--it's one of a kind, like a work of art. I am also a fine art printmaker and I bring the same training and eye and skill that I use in my print studio to bear when I make my home decor.

My new line of handmade pillows features 100% hand woven Cambodian silk--the best quality silk in the world. I personally selected the incredible textiles I use in these pillows at Sentosa Silk, in Phnom Penh. Sentosa is committed to quality and fair trade practices; all the silk they sell is "hand-made by disabled craftsmen and women, who are expert in traditional forms of silk weaving." Please take a look and let me know how you like them. I think they would make exquisite gifts. I donate 10% of every purchase (pillows, lamps, frames, everything) to an educational program for street children in Cambodia, so your purchase will spread generosity in many ways.

I got started making my own home feel special--covering switch plates with handmade paper and photo frames with vintage lithographs I picked up at flea markets and old bookstores. I made lampshades with unusual textiles and collaged ephemera. Friends, family and visitors noticed and asked me to make lamps and frames for them. So now, a few years later, here I am on Etsy. I want you to have a home that feels special too. Pick out a lamp that reflects your personality and interests. Get a pillow that makes you smile every time you relax. Browse for that perfect photo frame for a loved one.

This past summer, I was amazingly lucky and got to travel to Cambodia. This southeast Asian jewel has an art and craft tradition that goes back 600 years. I was particularly fascinated by the hand spun, naturally dyed and hand woven fine silks that entire villages make as a cottage industry. In Cambodia, hand crafted meets high art--Cambodian silk is the best quality silk in the entire world. I am proud to offer my new product line-- hand sewn pillows, designed and made by me, out of the beautiful Cambodian silk I brought back with me from my trip. Even better, I am glad I can extend our helping hand back to the artisans and the kids I met in Cambodia.
