This is a MUST READ if you are in the market for a WOOD inlaid in PLATINUM, GOLD, PALLADIUM or STERLING SILVER Ring (or any other Precious Metal). Some info to help you make a better choice so you won't end up with a BROKEN ring, it is after all an investment.
You will find lots of Wood inlaid in precious metal rings on the Internet. None of them can be made with an open flame, the normal tool for jewelers, the metal heats up and the wood BURNS.
But, WITHOUT HEAT you cannot make a solid ring that have NO JOINTS. Think about it, you have to heat the metal so it melts the two rails to the sleeve to form a single solid strong ring that won't come apart years down the line.
BUYERS BEWARE - Before you buy the ring ask how the edges and sleeve were joined together. Ask if you can send the ring back if the edge and sleeve is not a Solid Single piece of metal. If it is NOT then get ready to hear all sorts of excuses that although theirs are not heat melted joints they will never come loose. Nonsense, the potential for the ring to come apart/break is there and you will be out of a lot of money, your investment will be worthless.
If you spend a lot of money on a ring, expect the best constructed ring, one that is an investment and will last a lifetime.

INTERCHANGEABLE RING SYSTEM
Take a look at this listing http://www.etsy.com/listing/68755906 In the description it gives an explanation of the Interchangeable Rings with pictures.

You will find someone else on Etsy that have copied my Meteorite rings unashamedly. The problem is that he produces lower quality rings, clients have asked me to fix some of his poorly made rings. They cannot come up with anything on their own, this Etsy seller even has jewelry designers working for him. With a big team of designers he still has to look at my rings for inspiration and copy them.

My Wood and Meteorite Rings have never been made before, by anyone, he is now making them as well. It won't take long for him to start copying my Antler and Meteorite rings, Mokume and Meteorite inlay rings. What next?

I just hope he stays away from my Tungsten and Meteorite Inlay rings, you won't find this anywhere on the Internet. I wish Etsy could protect us hard working sellers from copiers like this.

Large masses were reported to exist near the East bank of the Great Fish River to English Army Captain J.E. Alexander in 1838. The meteorite was known by the local natives for many years before this, who had worked the smaller specimens into arrowheads and assagai-heads. Many other large masses have been found since this first report. More then 54 tons of this meteorite is in museums or university collections. The main mass weighs 650 kilograms and is located at the South African Museum in Cape Town.

Etched slices show lines in the metoerite called "widmanstatten" lines. These are the result of the acid reacting different to the high nickel taenite and low nickel kamacite crystals. Gibeon's main composition is iron (90%), nickel (8%) and cobalt (0.4%). Other minerals include kamacite, taenite, troilite, chromite, deabreelite, enstatite and tridymite. Radiometric dating places the age of crystallization of the metal of the Gibeon meteorite at around 4 billion years.
