I feel like I've been crafting my whole life. At the ripe age of 4, we are given scissors and glue and glitter and tissue paper and told to make something pretty. There are those who just can't, and those of us who have been lucky enough to continue on the crafting journey.

I have always made my own jewelry, beginning with hemp and string friendship bracelets, but I really picked up momentum and a good sense of style a few years ago. I was looking for a creative outlet as a break from the mundane office job I held during the day, and thus Jolliworks was born.

I began dabbling with different stones and glass beads to create jewelry...trying different styles and pairings. Then moving these beads over to hair pieces with feathers and shiny sparkly accents. I got my first sewing machine shortly after and found a love for browsing fabric stores...excitedly feeling all the textures of each colorful bolt.

My grandmother had once tried to teach me how to crochet when I was a teenager. But that was the problem - I was a teenager and had no interested in "old lady" activities. I wish I had known then how much I would love crocheting, so I could have learned from the best. I ended up teaching myself (and still continuing to learn!) via youtube videos and other crafters.

My crafting is inspired by all aspects of my life, and I like to think that each piece I create is unique, even if simply because it's handmade. I spent a lot of my "growing up" years in Hawaii and take a little bit of the sea with me everywhere I go.
