April's Birthstone: Diamond

Diamonds are certainly a girl’s best friend and are also this month’s birthstone.

Growing up in South Africa and spending many happy childhood days sorting through the “spoil” from my Grandfather’s open cast diamond mine in the hope of finding one of these beautiful gemstones – diamonds have always had a very special place in my heart and also in my jewellery designs.

Diamonds are the hardest gemstones and have come to represent undying love and constancy – hence their popularity and use in Engagement rings.

Most people think of diamonds as clear facetted gemstones (often referred to as white diamonds) but fancy diamonds such as those found in my beautiful Blue Diamond Stud Earrings (below) can exhibit many hues from yellow and green through to pink and blue.
