Welcome to Metamorphosis! I create pendants and earrings using butterfly and dragonfly wings along with numerous other natural findings. I do not raise, capture or purchase the butterflies, but rely on finding ones that have died. Many I find are along roadsides which serves as a good reminder of the impact we have on the earth and of the beauty we pass by everyday. I encase each wing using two thin pieces of glass (each approximately 1mm) I cut to complement the shape of the individual wing then join them with a lead-free silver based solder. This allows both sides of the wing to be viewed and provides a durable yet lightweight way of preserving the beauty of nature. Each is a handmade original creation. Although I can recreate some styles, each will be different as every wing is unique in shape, size and color.
