Kali Clothing has been creating unique designs for women and men using sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton, recycled polyester and vintage fabrics since 2006.
Kālī (काली ) n. is the Hindu Mother Goddess who personifies nature’s duality. She represents life-giving creative processes as well as life-taking destructive processes. Kali is a destroyer of human ignorance but also a Goddess who brings creativity and preserves world order.
Each collection from Kali Clothing is produced using Lyocell, an all natural fibre, designed and manufactured in Toronto.
Lyocell (Tencel®) is a natural fibre derived from dissolving wood pulp cellulose from the eucalyptus tree. Lyocell is soft and smooth on skin, breathable, naturally wrinkle-resistant and most importantly - environmentally sustainable. Lyocell is manufactured in a ‘closed loop’ process using a non-toxic solvent - about 99% of the solvent is recovered and recycled, what is not is broken down in water treatment plants. This process uses just 1% of the total amount of water required to manufacture conventional cotton. No manufacturing process is 100% environmentally sustainable; however, just as nothing is perfect, we can still make a difference.
