SILK YARDAGE FOR SEWING
Over the years, we have had customers inquire about sewing with our hand dyed silks. Since the thread count of the 4.5 and 5 mm silk is so thin, it was not a weight which could be sewn into garments. We just added a dressmakers width silk, at 10 mm which is thick enough for sewing dresses, blouses and shirts. The width we selected is 45", a pretty standard dressmaking width. We will dye any of our current colors of hand dyed silks in this weight. The minimum yardage is 1 yard, and larger pieces can be dyed up to 6 yards in length. See Orient's Delight for an example.
Thanks for visiting my shop!
