Welcome to katie&olive where we specialize in classic, timeless children's clothing - or what we call "heirloom clothing".

A little about us...

The company katie&olive - hand sewn heirloom clothing - is the creative brain child of Erin Black and Veronica Valania. The two women, having met through the Junior League of Wilmington, became fast friends. The idea for heirloom clothing was hatched one evening when Erin was describing a dress that her mother had hand sewn for her second birthday to Veronica. The dress itself, lovingly packed away and waiting to be worn by future generations, was the impetus behind the idea for katie&olive . Given that Erin was a talented seamstress and Veronica had Junior League experience in sales and marketing, the two quickly came to the conclusion that collaboration on this project could give many families heirloom options seldom found in children's clothing retail stores.

Inspired by the young daughters, Katherine and Olivia, of two of her closest friends, Erin sat at her sewing machine to create her first heirloom designs. It seemed a natural leap to name the young business after Erin's tiny muses, which is how katie&olive was derived. All of Erin's dress and tie styles are named for a memorable place in her life just as her first few dresses were made for two special little models.

The heirloom styles at katie&olive are meant to uphold the standards and traditions passed down through many generations the world over. Clothing that matches the innocence and romance of being child is what you will find at katie&olive . The nostalgia we all feel when remembering the favorite outfit worn for a special occasion as a small child is what Erin and Veronica hope to create for you and your family's future generations.
