Announcement    Unique, arty, and earthy. All of my jewelry begins in the flame of my torch. There is a lovely meditative energy here and I like to think that this magic must infuse the jewelry itself.

I have a love for organic works of art. Earth washed colors, surprising textures, and graceful flow of movement using chain, charms and dangles..
This mimic of natural elements is a wonderful play ground that I take constant delight in. ~ Deborah

ABOUT
Some years ago I sold only the beads here on Etsy. After a sabbatical I'm back but with only jewelry this time. Once in a blue moon I do offer the odd focal bead but largely I am no longer selling loose beads. 😽

My romance with the art of flame work began in 2005 after viewing some pendants in a boutique while visiting my sister in Cranbrook, BC. I went home, bought a simple single fuel torch, some rods of soda lime glass and have not looked back.

Most of the glass rods that I use to create the beads are imported from Italy and Germany. There is also some really really beautiful glass now being manufactured in the States as well that I use sparingly, since it's rather expensive.
The beads are wound and designed on a stainless steel mandrel, then carefully annealed and cleaned before being crafted into a piece of jewelry.

I love to incorporate surprise elements. I prefer asymmetrical design, yet strive to achieve pleasing balance using color theory and texture. I like a sense of movement and each piece usually has some feature that can be played with...rolled back and forth, a swinging length of chain or wrapped charm... a sort of talisman for you throughout your day. Love of family and roots run deep and influence much of what is created in the studio.
I no longer sell loose beads but can be talked into making the odd bird once in a blue moon. Just send me a pm if you're finding yourself needing one or two. :-)

The glass is first to reflect the happiness and contentment in my life right now and I hope to always be exploring, growing and sharing the wonder of this amazing medium..
