OUR NAME
Kittredge Candles is named for the Captain Kittredge house, overlooking Harpswell Sound on Orrs Island, Maine. It is also named for a wonderful orange kitty named Kittredge.

OUR HISTORY
My passion for candles began in the early 1970's, when I made novelty candles on a hot plate in my basement and sold them to my classmates. I revived that passion in 2009 when I pulled out my old molds and got a burning desire (no pun intended!) to make candles again. I hadn't planned to turn it back into a business; I simply wanted to sell a few candles to give me a reason to make more. Then it took on a life of its own and before I knew it I was making soaps, lotions, perfumes and lip balms as well! My wonderful husband, Paul, jumped in to help with packing and shipping, which allows me to focus solely on the fun part - making things.

I still use many of my 1970s molds for my novelty candles - many of which you won't find anywhere else. We donate all the money from the sale of our cat candles and soaps to our local cat shelter to help the homeless kitties. I spend WAY too much money on fragrance research and on using only premium fragrance oils in hopes of providing the most amazing fragrances. The one thing I'm proud to say is that I make every effort to be sure my fragrances are true to their name. When you order a candle in Hot Cocoa or Coppertone or Lilac or any of our 180+ fragrances, I want it to smell EXACTLY like you would expect. The main reason I do this is because I just love making exceptional candles that make people say "wow"!

I love doing custom orders and can make all of our items with custom labels for special events. Paul and I do craft shows and farmers markets all around New England (mostly in Massachusetts) and we are always happy to bring along any candles in fragrances you wish to smell - just email us at kittredgecandles [!at] comcast.net and let us know what you would like us to bring along!
