The Potter's Brush

kt4ever's Shop Announcement

This store includes many of my passions. Functional Stoneware and Porcelain vessels, Pit fired pottery, horsehair Raku, Sculptures, Ocarinas, and Brushes made from moose mane, deer tail, deer body hair, elk, raccoon, coyote, fox, squirrel, fitch, and many other hairs, Handles are made of several species of bamboo and deer antlers.

My brushes are made in the traditional Japanese method. Fude- the smaller brushes and dami-fude the larger brushes. The hairs are carefully selected and cut from the hide of the animal. The undercoat is carefully combed out and the remaining guard hairs are glued in such a way so that all hairs are glued together. The hairs are also tied several times with silk thread before the final gluing of the hair tuft to a matching bamboo handle.

I'm a retired art teacher and a potter since 1970. I'm a member of NCECA, Clayart. Please visit my website www.lindastauffer.com for more examples of my ceramics and paintings.
