High school yearbook was where I got my start in photography. Using my own money to buy a small point and shoot 35mm camera, I felt like the big dog. I had my camera with me everywhere I went and hung my blurry, dark, and poorly framed shots on my bedroom wall. As I grew in my role as yearbook photographer, I spent a little more and got myself a 35mm SLR and treated it like my baby. Using my self taught skills I took pictures of everything. When I began thinking about college, I knew photography was what I wanted to study. As I learned more and more through my studies, I became more interested in not only the taking of the pictures but the processes, from the smallest idea in my head to the final product. I wanted to have work that was different and not what people normally see. I did projects based on hands, colors and cemetaries. I worked in many sizes from the wallet sized 3D prints to the 5'x8' cyanoype fabric prints. Throughout college and continuing now, I enjoy taking portraits and capturing the person in their natural elements. I am always looking for new ways to use my favorite 'old process' of cyanotype looking for new medium to print on.
