kukucaju paintings on wood are friendly, fun and quirky taking inspiration from all things that amuse me; kid’s lit., sock monkeys, small furry mammals, cowpokes and in particular, the curious fascinations of my 2 children, Declan(6) and Lolly(9).
My current series of small paintings is based partially on drawings by my daughter Lolly.

As the workday usually runs well into the early hours, some pieces have that quirky flavour that can only be brought out at 1:00am after a long, long day. It is this liberation of one’s senses that fuels the creative furnace and sparks kukucaju’s originality and humour.
