I have been a professional scrimshaw artist for over 30 years and all of the scrimshaw in my shop is made by me on a variety of currently available materials. You may see mammoth ivory, fossil walrus ivory, vintage preban elephant ivory, bone, shed deer, elk or moose antler, micarta, corian and mother of pearl. Each material has its own individual characteristic and all of it is legal.
