On the sea fringed edge of Exmoor in the British Isles, there is a capturer and catcher of moonbeams who crafts glass, gemstone and silver creations...
Stained glass, sea glass, various sorts of unusual recyled glass are selected for their properties to reflect and shine, glow and project.
Texture, shape and colour decide the finished item - an organic process, and no two creations are the same.
Recycled and refashioned materials like costume jewellery are used with gemstones, chain and beads, wood, metal, crystals and natural substances like leaves and nuts. On occasions engraving is incorporated aswell.
Everything is made by hand, mainly free style, incorporating traditional leaded and copper foiling techniques; all designs are completely unique and individual and the look of some of the finished items is more 'medieval-like' as if it has been excavated whilst other designs introduce different ways of using selected materials. Irregularities are therefore common, and the overall feel is of solidity and rustic.
Primary colours are used in the studio but sparingly, the emphasis being on earth tones and hues to encourage light play and the melding of in and out of doors.
The crafter imagines her creations are infused with the special unadulterated light that spills off the moor above into her studio...
