Hi my name is Fi & I am a maker, designer and teacher.

I like to design new patterns to temp the eyes and the hands into taking up a needle and thread and while a way a few hours in meditative stitching. Hexagons feature strongly in my current patterns and it is no secret around here that they are my favourite shape to stitch, I hope you enjoy stitching them also!

Another form of stitching that is currently filling my evenings is slow stitching. Whether it be a wandering running stitch or a 'look at me' bullion stitch the variety and uses of traditional embroidery stitches on contemporary and upcycled fabrics is a medium I am continuing to explore.

I also love collecting old, way past their prime bits & bobs that are so great for product photography, its all about the stories I suppose!

As with the old bits & pieces, the rustier the better I say, they all have a past, a story, as does pieces of fabric - bought, cut & stitched back together. We all create a story with our stitching, whether it be designing a new pattern or following a pattern, we all put our own twist - story into it. The time it takes to create a handmade item for your home, yourself or to give as a gift is a precious commodity in itself & a chapter in the story of the item. In these fast past days that we now live in, with so many distractions for our time, to sit & stitch is very precious indeed.

My story unfolds in a little cottage in Queensland Australia. One of my 2 beautiful young adult kids are still at home with me & we live in a very beautiful part of the world. I create in a small part of the house - a closed in veranda area, it has wonderful light & room for my old dog to snooze at my feet.

This is where my stories begin & I hope I can inspire some story creating of your own.
