When my 3 week old son died after open heart surgery, knitting no longer quieted my mind or calmed the storm raging inside me. I needed something more. As former knitting shop owner, color spoke to me, but it was no longer in the form of yarn, fabric was its replacement. I taught myself how to sew as a way to heal my heart, honor my son and keep living. The creative process saved me. As a result lucends was born.
I like to take simple shapes and forms and give them a modern feel. Color fuels my soul and is the inspiration for each piece. I do not buy fabric in large quantities in order to keep each piece unique. I only use the highest quality designer fabrics and materials, ensuring that each item is not only one that my customers love but is a piece of art, as well. All items are made by in my home studio, usually while my two year old is napping. I believe wholeheartedly in the handmade process, guaranteeing that my hands and only my hands work on each lucends in product. Each piece of work is made with a great deal of love, time and care.
