Hi there! My name is Minerva. Not actually my given name but chosen for me as a kid of 19, first as a joke but it stuck an now it is my name, as any name can be yours. Minerva the goddess of wisdom.... hmmmm, well not sure how true that is... I do play a mean game of trivia. Minerva's side kick is an owl. I believe that owl is my totem. My animal spirit guide through life. Therefore, I sort of like to make owls and goddesses and expect they will be a continuing presence in my shop.
I have been working hot for a little over a year now. Before that I was a stained glass artist for some 20 years, selling informally to friends and friends of friends and teaching a little here and there. I love glass, the texture, the color, the cool feel to the touch, with that fire within. Glass, a solid, a liquid, ever moving, changing with the light, the season. I think it is the perfect medium for endless creation. (Am I ranting?) Well a few years ago I saw a lampworking demo and bought myself a hot head. It was fun but I could never work the size I wanted (even though since then I have seen others that do) so I put it away and went back to stained glass. But as true love does I was captured in the enchantment and on my 51st birthday I decided that I would find my love That it was worth whatever the cost and the time commitment. An so here I am triing to sell my wares. To make you see my vision, is my dream. Well there you are the tale of my obsession.
Mad because I live in Madison, Wisconsin and perhaps a bit crazy too. The hatter part refers to the Red Hat Society that I belong to. The Laies of Bluegrass chapter to be specific. Some of the best friends I have ever had! And so I am the Madhatter2555. Come jump down the rabbit hole with me.
