Welcome to Maria Burd's Etsy Shop! Here you will find my popular 8x8 Flower Series paintings which are painted on primed 3/4" cabinet grade plywood and finished with a protective varnish. I paint in thin layers of oil paint, allowing the natural texture of the wood to come through. I then accent the textural quality by using a palette knife to spread the paint over the wood's surface. The paintings are framed with simple natural varnished lattice 1 3/8" deep and are ready to hang or stand upright. Each is a one-of-a-kind original piece of artwork, hand titled and signed on the back. I work from actual photographs and travel all over to botanical gardens, public parks, and local greenhouses taking reference photos and notes about each species. My paintings make wonderful gifts for nature lovers and gardeners and look great alone or hung together in groups.
