All profits from the sales of my bracelets go directly towards the purchase of BioSand filters for people without clean drinking water in Zambia, Africa. Not only do BioSand filters remove 99% of pathogens from water, but one BioSand filter gives a family clean drinking water for a lifetime! And because the filters are built by Zambians, each filter creates jobs (Zambia suffers an 80% unemployment rate).

My (very modest) goal here is to sell ten bracelets, which would fund one BioSand filter for one family in Africa. If we reach that goal, who knows? Maybe TWO BioSand filters!

(A little about me)
I'm a woman with a lot of passion and not nearly enough time to share it all. I'm a wife to an amazing man who inspires me every day, and a mother to the happiest little kiddo I've ever met. I also host a web-show for iFixit.com, wherein I instruct people how to repair their broken electronics, and in my "spare time" I produce a personal video-blog that mostly focuses on positive, motivational messages. I live and love in Shell Beach, California.

(The story behind my shop)
This summer, lots of families I know were hosting lemonade stands to raise money for BioSand filters, and as much as I wanted to contribute and host my own lemonade stand, we just don't have the time. (I'm sure I'm not the only mom with too much on her plate.) So I thought to myself, "what CAN I do to help?" And one day, as a made a few bracelets for a girlfriend's birthday, I realized-- I can make bracelets. And they're pretty darn cute. So, that's why I'm here. This is something I can do in the hours after The Bean falls asleep to help folks across the globe have access to something we consider an absolutely basic necessity: clean drinking water.
