mississippimudpotter's Shop Announcement

Mississippi Mud Pottery has been a fixture in Alton, Illinois since 1983. Our handmade stoneware has the quality to keep our customers coming back, some for over 20 years. We pride ourselves in our work and we stand behind our wares.

We work daily making dinnerware, lamps, vases, planters, casseroles, "Raku" pottery, and custom designed ware. Our creations are made from natural clay materials, mined in the Midwest region, with lead-free glazes that are microwave-safe, oven-safe, and dishwasher-safe. All of our pottery is hand-made either on the potters wheel, or built by hand.

Pottery is handmade, therefore you should be aware that variations can occur in color and clay consistencies. We appreciate the handmade look of our pots...and hope you will too! Color may also vary depending on your monitor color calibration.

Pottery, like many handcrafted items requires special care. With proper care, your pottery should provide you with a life time of service. NEVER place our pottery onto a open flame. To bake with our pottery please make sure the dish is room temperature before placing it into a hot oven, or first add your ingredients, next place into a room temperature oven, and then turn oven to desired temperature. A sudden extreme temperature change may thermally shock pottery causing it to crack.

If you are using phosphate-Free dish washing detergent, it may leave a filmy residue on your pottery.
