My first two careers were working as a registered nurse then a heath educator. While working at the Utah Department of Health, I started taking pottery classes. After several years, I decided to pursue becoming a potter by enrolling in the University of Utah Ceramics Program. After finishing my classes, I kept working to save enough money to remodel my home. I added a studio and purchased all the needed equipment. It took several years to accomplish my goal.

After setting up my studio and quitting my job, I became a full time potter. I love throwing on a potter's wheel but also love to hand-build. I design pattern pieces to cut the pottery parts from slabs of clay. Texture is added to the slabs before the pieces are formed. I also combine wheel-thrown pieces with hand-built pieces. The texture is created by using my hand-carved bisque stamps and pressing them into the clay. I mix and create most of my glazes.

My first experience in art was painting oil landscapes on canvas. The love of painting carried over to my pottery making. Many of my designs use underglazes painted on clay. I enjoy using all of the mentioned different methods in my pottery making.

All of my functional pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. It is important remember that the pieces are hand made and should be treated with care.
