Its My Life- From Disability to Independence

I live in Acworth and I joined etsy to try to sell things for my girls,. We have started a group called Its My Life- from disability to independence. The goal is to raise money so that the girls can participate in community activities and learn to become more independant. All our girls currently are mentally challenged. Two of them have Down Syndrome. At some of our social events we have other participants and that includes some young men with disabilities.All of our participants are adults and have completed their schoolling so there are not as many opportunities for them to socialize. We try to bowl each week and they all join us for that. We have been teaching the girls crafting skills and ways to use their talents and some may become self employed with our assistance. One of our girls makes nice jewelry which she is good at selling, one of the girls who has Down Syndrome is an abstract painter. She has sold some of her paintings on Ebay but we hope she will sell even more. She loves to paint. It gives me joy to see her expression as she creates her masterpieces, I have even created note cards form some of the photos of her paintings and sold them.

Many of the items in our store are created by the girls but not all of them, We have supporters who make thngs for us to sell to benefit the girls and include them as well. We have quite a variety of items. I am just learning how to use etsy but look forward to joining all of you and each of us being successful.
