Welcome to Natural Born Dyers for distinctive yarns and fibre hand-dyed with natural plant dyes.

Apologies for the recent substantial postage increases. These were forced on us by Royal Mail who have put up their prices hugely this year.

I am a small indie dyeing business based in North East England that grew out of a natural dyeing hobby that produced fibre and yarn for my knitting/spinning-potty partner.
I want my business to reflect my ethos by being as environmentally friendly as possible. Some of my dyes are extracted from plants I grow myself or harvest locally, sometimes as part of my role as a volunteer at local nature reserves. Otherwise I use dried plant materials (except indigo which is only available as extract form due to it being unstable in dried plants)and source all my wool from british suppliers. I also use recycled and biodegrable materials for labels and packing materials. I am also currently investigating the possibility of using wool from some of the many excellent local flocks that are in our area.
