oddballandsticks's Shop Announcement

All my pieces are hand knitted using mostly natural fibres. Wherever possible, I use homespun and hand dyed wools, sourced from around the UK.

Many of my items are fulled – a process using hot water and agitation – to ‘shrink’ the fibres, giving the finished piece a felt-like texture. The original knitting of a fulled piece has to be around a third bigger than the finished product, depending on the type of fibre used.

Some of my pieces use Shibori technique. Shibori literally means ‘memory in fibre’, and is produced by fulling items with objects tied into them. This allows the area of fabric with the object inside to take on its form – holding the memory of that shape in the fibres after fulling.

All of my pieces are individual. I never make the same item twice. I am happy to custom make. My items are priced to cover material costs alone – I do not charge for making time.

Knitting is a diversion from my otherwise very busy life. When you buy an oddball&sticks piece, you are also buying a small piece of my own sanity!
