ottok's Shop Announcement

I'm beginning to feel somewhat anachronistic in photography as I still shoot primarily with film. I tried digital, but it didn't fully satisfy me artistically. There was almost a tactile feeling missing in all those digital bytes for me. I like developing film and working in the darkroom – getting my hands wet. I shoot with a growing arsenal of around 29 film cameras, ranging from high precision cameras with multiple lenses to cheap plastic cameras to pinhole cameras. Although you may find some prints from my foray into the digital world, most were taken with my film cameras.

Much of the work here portrays my prevailing artistic style, wabi-sabi: finding magic in the ordinary . . . in the flawed. As Leonard Loren said: "Wabi-sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things unconventional." Wabi-sabi is what I seek when I explore a site or walk the streets of a city looking for something to photograph or with the cameras that I use to capture my subjects.

I print each image either using a local professional lab with a method known as lab photographic printing which exposes each photograph with light and then processes the paper in a chemical bath or in the darkroom myself as a silver gelatin print. Each print is signed and dated. I will list a print at one size, but most are available at other sizes. Please contact me if you are interested in another size. Older images are available for sale here on Etsy. My latest images are available directly from my photoblog: http://www.ottokphotography.com/.

Please check out my portfolio: http://portfolio.ottokphotography.com/ for more of my work and news of shows. If you are in the Atlanta, GA area, you can also see my work at Beep Beep Gallery, 696 Charles Allen Dr., Atlanta, GA 30308.

You will be notified by email when your order is shipped. All prints are shipped in cardboard tubes to protect the art. I've had prints folded in half by the postal service using the flat photo mailers and will not use them again.
