NOTE: OUNO DESIGN IS CHANGING ITS FOCUS IN 2010!

For six years we have concentrated on vintage textile pillows. In the new year we will be phasing out most of this line (we will always have a few specialty pillows though), and we are currently selling off the bulk of our pillow stock! Vintage collectible textiles are an obsession with us, but making them into one-of-a-kind pillows is expensive and time-consuming, and it is very difficult to explain to the public why our pillows don't cost the same as something from IKEA, despite superior fabrics and the sleuthing required to find things 40-60 years old, and despite fabrics made much more solidly than most fabrics are now. For no rational reason, people are willing to spend much more on our sustainable leather bags, our trench bags and our vintage scarf quilts, so our time is better spent making those, and those will be our focus in 2010. Thanks to everyone who bought and enjoyed our vintage textile pillows - each one of them is like a painting.

Ouno Design is an artisanal design studio in the Pacific Northwest, made up of two designers who produce deluxe fashion and decor accessories from salvaged, recycled (and occasionally new sustainable) materials. We're part of the new wave of "westcoast modernism" (also known as "warm" or "soft" modernism) and our emphasis is on the best of midcentury modern, 60s and 70s, especially Scandinavian and Japanese textile design. SHIPPING TO THE USA FROM CANADA is easy, trouble-free, fairly reasonably priced and pretty fast. Since all our products originate and are made in Canada, they are customs-exempt under NAFTA.
