Candied Canes by Painterjayne

painterjayne's Shop Announcement

My canes are for walking AND enjoying. Instead of my cane's giving only the appearance of disability; my Candied Cane says "I'm here!" My canes are beautiful--and they can be custom made--and fun. I have been painting all my life and I still love it. Thirty-five or so years ago, I graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. I've won some awards, and shown my paintings in Philadelphia, New York, and the Canadian Rockies. My studio is in Newark, Delaware, where we moved three years ago. I paint overlooking my trees and flowers with our cats watching. My husband Harry--who writes a weekly column for SCOOP, USA--and I have two grown children who live on their own, and four cats who don't. I was diagnosed with Lupus in 1993, but my case is light, compared with so many others. Let me know what you think of the canes and don't hesitate to contact me. My awards and resume are listed on painterjayne dot com.

Artist’s Statement:
Since I was eight years old, I have wanted to paint. I started art classes at 13 and never stopped. I believe each person possesses a unique response to life and that it can be expressed in many ways, one of which is Art. My creative method is to allow whatever I feel to rise to the surface and be expressed in my artwork. I watch the painting form and coalesce on the canvas. Without consciously drawing and designing, I paint in a kind of a trance. What seems to have emerged is a journal through painting of my life, emotions, and experiences. For a while, I focused on erotic nudes pursuing their fantasies. Whatever I do, whether it’s from life or from my imagination, I want to have fun with it. I enjoy the excitement of creating art, and look forward to going wherever it leads me. My painting is my personal adventure, my contribution to the world and what makes my life interesting.
