The Story of Pearlswirl
So, naturally, opening an etsy shop was just the right step for me. Wire-wrapped freshwater pearl jewelry was my first love, and I'll always be true, but, having worked in a craft store, and having immersed myself in extremely crafty online and real-life communities, I'll give any craft a try and count embroidery and sewing among my most adored pastimes.
I started a blog mainly to support my shop, but it has turned into a creative outlet in its own right. I now spend hours reading (devouring) other blogs and the inspiration and excitement I derive from the incredible online creative community has fueled my etsy shop, and equally, the creative epiphanies I have while making jewelry inspire me for my blog. This circular creative process is addictive and-- I KNOW other crafters will agree with me here-- it's often seriously hard to put down whatever project I'm working on and go focus on 'real' work.
Pearlswirl jewelry reflects my love for the girly (but not overdone), romantic side of things. The jewelry usually works equally well with jeans and a top, as it does dressed up. Sometimes it varies in style, based on my seasonal moods, inspiration, and the supplies I have on hand, but, in my opinion, everything is held together with a whismical, vintage-inspired element. As part of my commitment to resourceful, never-wasteful crafting, I like to incorporate vintage, second-hand, or repurposed components in my designs whenever possible. This is always noted in detail in the item's description. I'm passionate about traveling, and often search flea markets and unique shops while abroad to source perfect little charms and findings to complete my jewelry designs. Like many people in this (awesome) handmade community, I like my creations to have a story behind them!
