in 2007, Practical Elegance was birthed. The name came from my upbringing. I used to watch with amazement, when my single mother could seldom afford store bought clothes, and with her Singer sewing machine, she would come up with handmade wonders. An old girdle, with a few snip-snips turned into a 'form fitting' ball gown for my Barbie doll, and anything else her creative mind could come up with. (I still have the Barbie gown 50+ yrs later). Her favorite reality TV show was 'Queen for a Day', she loved the elegance, but had to opt for practical. In her honor, I've named my business after her personality.
Practical Elegance pincushions with the hands-on memories you've put into it, are intended to be an 'heirloom quality' reflection of your personality, passing them down to the next generation crafter in your family.
