The digital age has given us the ability to instantaneously capture, print, store, share, and view digital photographs. While no film and no developing is cost effective and efficient, it eliminates the mistakes and the unwanted images. Unwanted or imperfect photos are simply deleted. These unwanted photos are the essence of vernacular photography. They are the real moments – the unstaged settings: people in their unscripted moments, families not posed, settings imperfect. These are what are lost in the digital age of one – touch photo deleting. These moments – these people – remain real today only in the world of vernacular photography.
