We love Raggedy Ann at our house! When I was 14 years old my grandmother decided it was time to teach me how to sew. She selected a Raggedy Ann pattern and the lessons began. It took me forever to embroider the face on that first doll and an eternity to sew each piece of yarn hair. I admit that at the time I really didn’t enjoy this at all and my patient grandmother had to push me along the way.
After I got married I decided it was time to look for that old pattern. That Christmas I made five Raggedy Ann dolls for some little girls in my family. I started keeping track of the dolls I made and during the past 30 years I have created over 70. Now, each doll is numbered, signed and dated and each owner’s name is put in our special Raggedy Ann and Andy book. (After all, they are special to us and we like to know that they are with good families.)
I know my grandmother is happy every time a new doll is created for someone to love.
