I revisit childhood often, the wonder of that time captivates me. My mom used to drag my younger brother and I out of bed before dawn and pack us into the car with our pillows heading off to who knows where to find some obscure treasure - most often a toy from long ago that we were not allowed to play with.
I began photographing flea markets and antique shows while I was working towards my MFA at Pratt in Brooklyn, NY. You will still find me snapping away at the very same antique shows I grew up attending!
I started to experiment creating jewelry in 2005. Lately I have become obsessed with working with vintage children’s picture books, which I have been collecting for many years from those very same antique shows my mom used to have to drag me to. The dick and jane jewelry collection is created from vintage picture books I find while on these treasure hunts.
I create each piece by hand, infusing my love of childhood and all the wonderful memories associated with it, hoping to rekindle in you, the magic and wonder that is all around you.
For revisiting your childhood and investing in my work, I thank you.
