The holidays are almost here, and if you feel like most of my friends feel, keeping it simple is important. Certainly, noone is prepared to spend a fortune on decorations, and noone wants to buy a lot of frivolous stuff. Using what you already have, or making a small purchase that can be used in many ways seems smart. White is a common denominator in all decors. Vintage milk glass and white pottery make holiday decorating look easy, and continue on to star in the next celebration without missing a beat. Spend a little time looking at Etsy's vintage shops for anything white, and make your holiday decorating simple, sharp, and easy.

I've always thought a home should have a sense of humor.
You can walk into any room in my house and find something that will make you smile.

My coffee table used to be my dining table. An end table was my kitchen butcher block. An old armoire was in my grandfather's shop.

I have a fine collection of Dutch pottery, seashells and glass floats, a couple of vintage paint-by-numbers on the mantel, and twigs nailed in a row on a wall where a picture should be but isn't.

Eclectic, comfortable, easy, and mellow-- my home certainly is. Perfect--absolutely not.
