UPDATE! So many of my friends who knit socks have commented that the 100 gram/3.5 ounce balls of fingering weight is just not enough. So in answer to that, I started BIG FOOT skeins. Each skein is approximately 500 yards and 4.6 ounces - so for those with larger feet or who want to do knee-length socks or who just want a bit more - there's BIG FOOT. Remember - always check your yardage requirements before starting!
