Buddhist, Hindu, Yoga, and other spiritually inspired fine silver jewelry pieces can be found at Shree Lotus Design. Favorite images of Buddha, Ganesh, Kali and Hanuman are often used in many of our handmade bronze and fine silver creations.
Welcome to the world of Shree Lotus Design. We create our fine silver and bronze
jewelry in the deep woods of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. As we
write this note to you all, the leaves are falling, and a November
chill is in the air. Come into our studio.. .music is always playing,
the dog and cat are napping, and we are happily making molds, carving,
or planning our next jewelry creation. We are currently using precious
metal clay to create most of our components. We treat the clay as a
metal, hardening for hours in the tumbler, then using a jewelers
hammer( and I DO love to hammer) to harden the pieces after taking
them from the kiln. Precious Metal Clay(PMC) was developed by
Mitsubishi Materials in Japan in the 1990s. Microscopic particles of
silver are mixed with binders to create a material that has the feel
of moist clay. After air drying, the pieces are placed into a kiln,
and heated to temperatures approaching the melting point of the
metal(1650 for 2 hours), where the particles fuse together to make a
dense metallic object. It can then be enjoyed like any silver item.
We like working with silver, leather, linen……whatever is visually
pleasing at that moment. Bhakti Yoga and kirtan chanting are a major
influence in our designs. The recordings from Wah!, Jai Uttal, Krishna
Das and many more are often playing in the background, calming the
mind and helping us to focus on our current creation. The images of
playful Ganesh, devoted Hanuman, fierce Kali and beloved Buddha will
always be present in some of our designs. We make what we love, and
that love is ever expanding. Stay tuned for more creations from the
studio in the deep woods.
