Pysanky or Ukrainian Easter Eggs are an ancient folk art from the Ukraine. They are created on real eggshells by alternating the application of hot beeswax applied with a stylus or writing pen called a kistka and dipping in dyes of progressively darker shades. The traditional symbols and colours each have different meanings. The last step is to remove the wax with a candle flame to reveal the beautiful design hidden beneath.

I pride myself on my orginal designs which come from my own life experiences and imagination. I find that nature is one of my greatest inspirations and you will often see flowers, birds and other beautiful elements that are found right from my own backyard. I hope that when looking at my eggs you will feel the intensity of the passion and dedication that I put into my work.

My eggs have been sold to private galleries and collections in Canada, the US and Australia. I am an active member of the International Egg Art Guild (IEAG). I have had photos of my eggs published in “A Showcase of Decorated Eggs” as well as a self-published photo album of some of my earlier works.

In 2008 I had the honour of being the Featured Artist in the Egg Artistry Guild of Australia Inc., Quarterly Magazine and this year I was the Featured Artist in the International Egg Art Guild Magazine's April issue. Most recently I hosted a Pysanky exhibit and demonstration at the DeCoste Entertainment Centre in Pictou, Nova Scotia.

PYSANKY

Each pysanka created is handmade by myself in the traditional wax and dye process. Pysanky are completed with a crystal clear finish to deepen the colors like water on a stone and enhance their beauty. Some of my favorite shells include goose, turkey, duck, pheasant, quail. Several other types are also available.

Tiny finch and parakeet eggs used for jewelry are so fragile, but once the dye process is completed, they are sealed in layers of a special hardner to make them very strong and they will become your favorite jewerly to wear! All jewelry findings are 14 Karat solid yellow or white gold and are of the utmost quality. Items include pysanky drop earrings, pendants and necklaces. Truly an amazing process and an amazing journey to create!

Cutout Shell Pendants & Brooches

Made from small cutout pieces of turkey, rhea or ostrich shell, set in gold filled, sterling silver, brass, or copper settings. These are available in most any design seen on a complete Pysanka.
