HANDMADE GLASS BEADS AND PURE SILK RIBBONS AND STRINGS

Hello and welcome to my Etsy Shop

All of my beads are individually hand made in my home studio and kiln annealed overnight to ensure durability before being thoroughly cleaned ready for despatch.

I am a Self Representing Artist No. T43.

In addition to beadmaking I love textiles, in particular silk. I began making and selling my silk chiffon and crepe de chine ribbons and habotai strings on the website and they have proved very popular so I thought I would offer some for sale here on Etsy.

The ribbons and strings are all 100% pure silk and I use the finest Italian silk thread in my overlocker and only natural threads when stitching the strings. The ribbons are crinkle chiffon, crepe-de-chine and georgette (see individual items) and the strings are habotai or pongee which we (my daughter-in-law stitches the strings) stitch and turn before hand dyeing. I use procion (fast) dyes which will take a hand warm wash in mild soapflakes and I iron the ribbons and lightly steam the strings before despatch.

My ribbons are 1/2" wide and 40" long and the strings are 1/8" wide and 50" long (all approximate). I cut the strings on the cross of the fabric so they drape well and the ribbons are left unfinished at the ends.
