We have been best friends from the first day we met back in the summer of 2008. And why not start a business with your best friend!? It sounded like a good idea to us, so in the fall of 2009, we opened our Spicy Designs Etsy Shop with a vision to create handmade products as truly unique and colorful as we are. We love to create!

We both come from peripatetic families who spanned the United States during our early years. This constant change of scenery helped us gain an appreciation for the unique cultures and styles each state of our great nation has to offer. When we sit down to create our products, we love thinking back on those cultures and styles and strive to incorporate them into our designs - hopefully creating a little something for everyone.

Our desire to create was strongly encouraged by our beautiful mothers who taught us to be true to ourselves {and our unique styles!}, confident in our talents/abilities, and above all, to be kind and supportive of others. Steph lost her mother to a long battle of breast cancer in 2008 and felt the best way to honor her, and her love to design and create, was to make one of her own dreams a reality - start a business with products that excite, delight, and express a love for color, pattern, and design. So Steph embarked on the passionate and intense journey of Spicy Designs. With some persuasion and discussion about Steph's ideas, Al decided Spicy was the perfect outlet for her too!

Together, we have been designing, evolving, celebrating, and enjoying each stage of our small business venture. Owning our shop has been an incredible journey which has allowed us to face many fears and overcome them, help other entrepreneurs, and grow as individuals in ways that make our mamas proud! We likewise take pride in our own children and love the challenges and blessings motherhood provides. Our families are our first priority and we strive to lead by example, hoping our children will gain their own love and passion for life and its amazing opportunities!

Here at Spicy Designs, each of our accessory items are designed to add the perfect amount of brightness, fun, and pzazz to the person donning them. We hand-make, with tender loving care, each Spicy product from designer and durable cotton fabrics, so quality is something you can count on. We love our products and we hope you do too!
