Stil Novo Design's recycled oak wine barrels creations, unique eco-friendly custom furniture, elegant home & wedding decor & 'green' gift ideas are made with recycled French oak wine barrels. We are a family business located in California where we design and manufacture all of our creations. Every piece is a 'one of a kind' item, every decor is original and completely hand painted.

Why wine barrels? The chemical properties of oak itself play a significant role in winemaking, affecting the color, flavor, and texture of the wine; over time many of the oak properties get "leached" out of the barrel though and after 3 to 5 vintages the barrel is ready to be discarded. That's when we rescue, recycle and transform them into unique beauty to be given a new life in our customers' hands. The natural arch of a barrel stave confers striking finesse to the silhouette of each of our designs. The barrel's metal hoop is integrated whenever possible.
The red wine previously held in the barrels stains the underside conferring its particular character to it. Each piece will show natural variations in color, grain & dimensions from piece to piece. Imperfections of the weathered wood are welcome part of its history and unique charm.

About our STYLE: Our European heritage brings an innovative, highly sophisticated sense of style and superior manufacture standards to this century’s ‘green revolution’. The upcycled shouldn’t be inferior to the high-end market’s standards and moreover should maintain the same sense of exclusivity and distinctiveness. Our concern for the environment doesn't affect, nor compromise, the quality and sense of esthetic conveyed in our creations; we proudly strive to exceed our customers' expectations.

About our S & H costs: we box every item carefully, the larger items often take up to 3 hours to box. We invest time and materials into proper packaging to protect your purchase during transit. We insure every item for its full value for your peace of mind -and ours- and such insurance is included in the fees you are paying. Thus the costs.

A last note about our LEAD TIME: most of our items are made to order expressly for you. True artisans take pride in the quality of their creations and time in conveying that in every detail. Working with recycled materials involves time consuming procedures to prepare the wood before the end result can be achieved. We don't delegate any part of the manufacturing process in order to guarantee quality consistency, our lead time is a natural result of it :)

Please note that we have a limited selection of ready to ship items. Look for the READY TO SHIP specification in the listings' titles, otherwise for items made to order, please allow and expect the necessary time to manufacture, plus delivery time.
