The owner of supervelma is on vacation.

June 17, 2013 - There should be an option other than "vacation", you know?

"Vacation" suggests that I'm off somewhere flashing my boobs for beads and sucking down yard-long margaritas, but unfortunately, this is not the case. The fam and I are in the process of moving and we all know that moving is suuuuuuuch a pain in the ass, right? Like, am I going to be able to find those banana split dishes I never use? And will I be able to find any of my embroidery scissors or hoops? And will I get tv and internet hooked up in a timely manner or will I have to live like I'm Amish (not gonna lie, I would churn the hell out of some butter)?

So anyway, Drop Dead Quirky (the shop), is taking a short hiatus, just until all the boxes are in the new place and I've located my underwear and my coffee maker and maybe a spatula. Drop Dead Quirky (the stitcher) (me), will continue stitching and working on stuff because that's what I do.

If you want to commission something (a tweet, a portrait of your cat, your favorite lyrics from the new Kanye cd, a sketch of a giraffe riding a skateboard), ask about something, pass along your favorite cookie recipe, or just chat and keep me company, you can message me here or to supervelma (at) gmail . com and I'll get back to you.

You're also welcome to follow me on instagram - Supervelma - it's probably just going to be weird pictures of my pets, weird pictures of weird stuff around my house and, occasionally, some stitching.

supervelma's Shop Announcement

Welcome to Drop Dead Quirky - If you've got a problem, yo I'll solve it... as long as your problem is that you need something stitched. Other than that... I don't know, no guarantees. I do make great cinnamon rolls, though.

Purveyor of pop culture stuff and nonsense (including, but not limited to, embroidered Kanye West tweets - As featured on Regretsy, Jezebel, The Village Voice, Gawker, Buzzfeed, NPR, Biba Magazine, Spin.com and the Huffington Post among other places- If your life isn't complete without one, please see the info below!)

Now, you can like me on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/DropDeadQuirky

About the shop: I stitch things and stuff, especially pop culture references, old school hip hop lyrics and bad puns. I'd like to think that I can stitch nearly anything, so if you've got something you'd like to see translated into thread - tweet, facebook post, portrait, inside joke, outside joke, family crest, your favorite sea animal, boobs - send me a message and I will do everything possible to make what you want.

About me: I grew up in the craft stores and thrift stores of Southern California, I like to make stuff and experiment with art. I watch a lot of tv, I have an endless capacity for useless knowledge and an uncanny ability to always say the worst thing in any situation. I'm a mom, a wife, a voracious reader and I haven't seen my natural haircolor since I was about 14. I collect vintage Pyrex and traditional tattoos and am usually open to trading for either of those.

Embroidered Tweet FAQ:

They are hand-stitched and mounted in 5"x7" frame. They are currently $50 each plus shipping ($6 in the US, $15 outside the US) - **If you'd like a tweet unframed, which is just the stitched fabric, it's $45 including shipping in the US (international shipping is $3 extra)

Because the tweets are all done completely by hand, each of them are one of a kind. Additionally, because they're done by hand, you can pick any tweet that will make your life complete, and that applies to Kanye and non-Ye. (also, unless the tweets is from your personal account, I'm not open to adding or changing anything from the original text).

**PLEASE NOTE** most of my work is on fibers and I do have pets in my home (2 dogs, 2 cats and a 14-year-old boy), so if you are extremely allergic to any of those things, I would recommend against eating any of the pieces or rubbing them all over the sensitive parts of your body (no judgment).

I mean, seriously, who reads through the whole "shop info"?

And if you are reading this far, what are you hoping to find? The secret of life? The secret of Nimh? The secret of my success? A great banana bread recipe?

Boobs.
