♡ OUR PROCESS ♡
My mom and I always had a passion for the fashion and we felt that right now theres something missing from the market that has a handmade touch to it. We felt like it was the perfect time to let our creative thoughts out and create jewelry that represented the everyday bohemian beauty!
I just started my first year of art college and my mom had just quit her day job as a waitress. At that time we both coincidentally felt that there was something missing from our lives, a sort of passion and fire. We always had a passion for fashion but we just did not know how to get into that market. We would both stay up late reading magazines like Teen Vogue and Seventeen together to pass time and just be girls.
We saw other jewelry designers in the market but we felt like there was no jewelry that targeted a certain demographic: us! We are both bohemian babes and enjoy that lifestyle of natural beauty and effortless elegance. So we decided that if other jewelry designers could do it why couldn't we. All you need is 2 hands and lots of passion, and I mean lots of it. When a person is super passionate people feel that energy and are automatically drawn to that.
Donna is currently studying graphic design at an art college. Graphic design has given me a wonderful platform to understand what kind of pictures customers are attracted to and designing the banners. I love anything design so mixing my love for fashion and graphic design seemed like a match made in heaven.
"I want students of any age to understand that you don't have to have a graduate degree to start your own business. All it takes is motivation and you believing in yourself. Why not start your dream business while you are in school, it is super fun and makes school that much more enjoyable because you see how the things you learn at school contribute to your business ventures. "
When my mom was in her 20's she had owned a small clothing boutique and loved going to the fashion district and picking out fabrics. However, after she had me and my brother she had to close the boutique and take care of us. Now that we are both off the college she has more free time to restart her dreams again and make them come true.
" I want other mothers out their to understand that sometimes you might have to put your dreams on the back burner for a while but never forget those dreams, it is never to late. Also making your dreams come true with the creative help from your children is even better because it brings the family closer and everyone gets to make their dreams come true: 2 heads are always better than 1."
Our products represent that bohemian beauty. We want all our customers to feel special when they wear one of our pieces, walking on the street, heads turning!
We start our design process by spending lazy Sundays sketching at local coffee shops and bouncing ideas off of each other. We get lots of inspiration from our surroundings, the local people because those are the people who need jewelry that is particularly designed for them!
After that we go to the fashion district in LA and collect vintage jewelry pieces, supplies, beads, and then comes the fun part: making the items in our studio!
Stay boho and fabulous!
XOXO,
Jenny and Donna
