sweetrefrainvintage's Shop Announcement

Hi and happy new year! I'm so sorry about the delay in reopening! We had a couple of home remodeling projects that made my etsy space unavailable, and sadly, an ill parent that needed care and kept me away from home. I'm taking a breather, hoping to get out of Dodge for some warmer weather, and then will reopen my store. Thanks so much for your patience.

Welcome to Sweet Refrain Vintage, a happily gathered collection of vintage clothing, accessories, and home goods, with an eye on style, quality, and sustainability. There is something very fulfilling about re-conceptualizing vintage items. By simply putting them into a new context, a creative process is initiated which resonates deeply with our innate need for self expression. Integrating a unique piece of vintage clothing with our closet staples, repurposing items that have outlived their intended use, but not their inherent beauty and craftsmanship, using a vintage homeware item that stirs happy memories and helps us feel grounded, these are all personally satisfying and endorsing.

As more and more of us have come to embrace the concept of the need for sustainable practices on this tiny planet we call home, I find myself reassessing my priorities, distinguishing between needs and wants, and committing to a higher personal accountability for the impact I make in my daily choices. My long time love of the vintage aesthetic is reinforced by this new mindset.

I love being a part of the Etsy community, where creative, thoughtful people gather to celebrate the art of the hand craft and to explore new, sustainable ways of using our resources. I see it as an antidote to the mass consumerism that is pervasive in our society. We are ever more divorced from the hands-on processes of our lives, subtly driven by the messages and conveniences of mass marketing. What we lose is the sense of personal satisfaction that comes with creative effort and thought.

Many thanks to all of you who visit my shop; I hope you enjoy browsing the collection as much as I've enjoyed gathering it. Thanks also to fellow Etsy sellers who support and inspire each other every day with their vision and ingenuity.
