Tao Humanus
taohumanus's Shop Announcement
A very long time ago my folks got me into archaeology by introducing me to field and lab work at the ripe young age of 8. I spent many weekends in the desert by my childhood home helping a local museum dig an ancient Pueblo site. It stuck with me and I have been able to volunteer for several other digs through out the country. I am a research nut and this was instilled in me by my parents who had an extended library. I remember sitting in the hall reading books on every imaginable subject from a very young age. Even in this digital age I find that I feel wealthy surrounded by the pages of books. There is no substitute! Eventually perusing a major in Anthropology, it opened up my eyes to a world of culture. Deep studies in philosophy opened up my mind to challenges. Several years of art studies opened up my abilities to my creativity. I am deeply fascinated by history, culture and beliefs and you will undoubtedly find expressions of these mingled with my love of nature through out my pieces. The idea of a collective soul, also known as the Tao or Universal Oversoul, is represented in my shop’s name. It is the idea that we all, combined with our natural world, are connected on a higher state; that somehow we all are one. I like this idea and it is reflected in my work.
While I am only a few years off of finishing several of my majors I spend most of my days as a full time mom. I enjoy perusing a vast amount of different possible art expressions and am always looking to try my hand at new types of media. Presently I work with jewelry, painting, marbled paper, pen and ink, glass bead making, and assemblage. I would love the challenge of a custom piece. Fill free to ask questions.
