Welcome to my etsy shop!

I create the designs on my jewelry by piercing the copper and sawing away bits of metal by hand until the image is created. I then abrade the surface to create texture. I do not use chemicals to seal any of the metal used. This allows the natural oxidation of the metal to form a beautiful patina. The patina will vary slightly depending on its exposure to air, lotions, perfumes, natural oils from the wearer’s skin, etc. The oxidation can be removed if desired by soaking in vinegar for 10-20 minutes. I do not recommend soaking beads in vinegar as some beads are so delicate that the vinegar may dissolve their polished exterior. I use solid copper in my work whenever possible, although I use some copper plated findings, and all earwires are made from Niobium, a hypoallergenic metal which is anodized to a copper color.

For those of you who have discovered that your skin chemistry or favorite lotion or perfume has caused your copper jewelry to turn your skin green, a coating of clear nail polish should do the trick. I am currently looking for a more earth-friendly alternative, and will keep everyone posted!
